1. Strengthen and Expand Your Communication Skills
Makaton Level 2 builds on the foundation of Level 1, giving you the opportunity to learn additional signs and symbols from the Core Vocabulary (Stages 3 and 4, and some of the Additional stage). You’ll also gain more confidence in using Makaton naturally and fluently in everyday communication.
2. Deepen Your Professional Practice
For those working in education, health, or social care settings, Level 2 training takes your skills to the next level. You’ll explore how to adapt Makaton for different communication needs, settings, and individuals—enhancing your ability to create inclusive environments where everyone can participate and express themselves with confidence.
3. Enhance Understanding and Reduce Barriers
Level 2 training helps you further develop strategies for supporting understanding, reducing frustration, and promoting meaningful interaction. By learning more signs and symbols and refining your delivery, you can help individuals communicate more effectively—creating smoother, more positive interactions both at work and at home.
4. Boost Language Development and Engagement
At this stage, you’ll discover more about how Makaton supports speech and language development. You’ll learn how to use signing and symbol systems to encourage communication growth, expand vocabulary, and build confidence—especially for individuals who are beginning to use speech or are developing new communication skills.
5. Join a Supportive and Experienced Learning Community
Attending a Makaton Level 2 workshop gives you the chance to connect with others who are equally passionate about inclusive communication. You’ll learn from experienced Makaton Tutors and share practical ideas with peers who are also using Makaton in their daily practice, whether in classrooms, care settings, or at home.
6. Prepare for Advanced Learning Opportunities
Level 2 is the next step toward becoming highly skilled in Makaton use and understanding. It provides the essential groundwork to progress to Level 3 and beyond, opening the door to deeper knowledge and even opportunities to become a Makaton Local Tutor in the future.
